"I Made Him Famous!" (Acts 4:20)

Al Michaels is one of the most respected sports commentators. His broadcasts bring great flair and color to every sport. Of his many memorable coverages, his quote after the Men’s U.S men’s hockey team upset the Soviet Union in the 1980 Winter olympics is now legendary. “Do you believe in miracles? Yes!”

But one little known fact occurred early in his career and Michaels was assigned to announce another hockey match. Michaels did not receive a player’s card and thus did not know the names of the players, save one. For the entire broadcast, Michaels deftly emphasized the actions of that one player’s name, who ironically, ended up being the star of the game. “I made him famous!’ he later quipped.

For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

Acts 4:20 (NKJV)

The Apostles Peter and John could not stop talking about Jesus Christ. It was the only name that mattered to them and they wanted to tell everyone about the Good News of Jesus Christ. They wanted to make Jesus famous!

I agree.

If you only know one name, know Jesus Christ. There is no other name under Heaven or on earth by whom we may be saved.

Amen!

Love and trust the Lord; seek His will in your life.
