A Spiritual Tenbagger (Acts 2:41)

Peter Lynch was the manager of one of the most successful mutual funds of all time, the Fidelity Magellan Fund. He later wrote a best selling book on investing entitled, One Up On Wall Street. In this book, Lynch outlined the steps that he took to identify publicly traded companies that have the potential for growth and stock price appreciation. In so doing, he coined the term, forever engrained in stock investing, the tenbagger.  This is a stock that increases 10-fold in price from the time one initially purchased it. It is a rare event and, for the fortunate investor who picked the correct stock, a great financial windfall.

What would a spiritual tenbagger be? Perhaps this incident recorded on the day of Pentecost, nearly 2000 years ago, would qualify. On this day when the Holy Spirit indwelled and empowered Peter and the remaining disciples, they all began speaking in foreign languages, understood only by the thousands of Jews who were visiting Jerusalem from all over the known world to celebrate Pentecost. It was a powerful witness and manifestation of the power and glory of God working in the lives of the first disciples. Peter then preached his first sermon declaring that Jesus Christ, who was rejected and crucified by the Jews, was resurrected and living. He was the Messiah!

And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 2:38 (ESV)

What happened next was a spiritual tenbagger!

So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
Acts 2:41 (ESV)

Peter and the rest of the eleven disciples proceeded to baptize about three thousand people, dramatically increasing the number of believers, the first Christian church. A spiritual tenbagger indeed!

If you have confessed your sins to Jesus Christ and truly repented, He is faithful and just to forgive you. Ask Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior. And when you do, the Holy Spirit will indwell within you, transforming and sanctifying you.

The Holy Spirit will enable you to serve and glorify God with your life. You will reap the immediate spiritual benefits. It will be your personal spiritual tenbagger. Don’t delay. Place your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

Love and trust the Lord; seek His will in your life.
