Tohoku 2014 Missions Trip, June 28-July 12, 2014
The Tohoku 2014 Team served again in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. This is the 4th PVBC team to serve since the earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011. Through the recovery efforts, God has brought volunteers from all over the world, and has brought many survivors to know Christ.
We served with Ishinomaki Christian Center, which coordinated our work. Some of the ongoing projects we were blessed to help out with:
- Second Annual Ishinomaki Gospel Festival: advance set up, publicity, and operations on the day of the festival.
- Help oyster fishermen prepare their oyster crops on the adjoining peninsula.
- Help at the Ishinomaki satellite of Tokyo Baptist Church, attending Bible study, a community picnic, doing construction projects and other community-building activities.
- Projects at ICC and its neighboring community
Halfway through our trip, Leah had the opportunity to extend her trip and become an intern with ICC. She served with various ministries such as Nozomi Project, Ochakko House and at Ishinomaki Christian Center itself until August 12, 2014.
We ask you to pray for the continued recovery of northeastern Japan, for the continuing work for Christian ministries there, and for the people of Japan. Please also pray for the ministry and staff of Ishinomaki Christian Center, and for their efforts to build a permanent facility near Ishinomaki train station.
Tohoku Missions sends a men’s leadership team, July 19- August 3, 2013
This year, the Lord chose to raise up an all male leadership team to Tohoku. This is the church’s 3rd year of being a part of the recovery and reconstruction in Ishinomaki, Japan.
PVBC has been present every year since the triple disaster there in 2011. We are especially grateful to the Lord for his calling and the obedience of first timers in overseas missions. We continue to pray for the fruits of that mission to have planted seeds there and in the hearts of those who went as “changed lives, changing lives.”
